Directed the environmental and Health/Safety aspects of the installation of a large scale 6’-diamter water main through contaminated properties and beneath the Raritan River.
Reviewed past documents regarding asbestos and arsenic fill in the area of a new water main. Performed testing and surveying of the fill including the preparation of asbestos management plans, remediation plans, and health & safety plans. Met with on-site contractors and orchestrated a health and safety kick-off meeting to communicate the findings of the surveys and sample collection, documentation review, remediation plan, and use of the health and safety plan.
During the removal/remediation of approximately 25,000 tons of arsenic and asbestos contaminated soils, AESI directed arsenic, asbestos and dust air monitoring; performed continuous bulk sampling when necessary; held daily safety meetings; directed contractor and client communications regarding contaminated fill handling; performed remediation oversight and reporting. Included daily reports of material characteristics and quantity removed during the project, health and safety report, progress logs, and reports/letters identifying and communicating various aspects of the project to the client and their contractors.
After the water main project was completed, consulted client on the disposition of several acres of client property historically contaminated by a large pharmaceutical company. Included interfacing with client; plus, oversight of pharmaceutical attorneys and pharmaceutical experts to identify company responsibilities, including: identification and delineation of contamination, timelines for the achievement of pre-agreed upon milestones, and regulatory deadlines.
