Michael J. Novak, LSRP
Michael J. Novak, LSRP, President, has over 29 years of experience in the management and implementation of environmental consulting and remediation services. He has directed over $75 million in environmental projects at over 5,000 client locations across 47 states, and was among the first individuals to be issued a license by the State of New Jersey under its Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) program. His areas of expertise include: environmental due diligence; brownfields redevelopment; soil and groundwater investigation and remediation; underground storage tank compliance; hazardous waste management; and regulatory compliance. As an expert witness, Novak has testified successfully in court and been deposed on multiple matters involving environmental and regulatory compliance issues. He is actively involved in Hudson County not-for-profit organizations and has served on the boards of professional organizations including the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, Hoboken Rotary, 200 Club of Hudson County, and Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment. Novak is a former president of the Hoboken Chamber of Commerce and was honored with an Excellence Award by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association’s (NJBIA) in 2005. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Rutgers School of Business, Center for Real Estate, and serves on the Advisory Board of Investors Bank and the Ambassador’s Board of Connect One Bank. In addition, he is a speaker on environmental matters for Lorman Education Services and frequently addresses real estate industry groups on environmental topics.
Jeffrey W. Anderson, CHMM, LSRP
Jeffrey W. Anderson, CHMM, LSRP, Vice President, has directly managed over $100 million in environmental projects during his more than 28-year career, focusing on providing consulting and remediation services for utilities, oil companies, businesses and government organizations. Notable projects include handling the technical aspects of nearly a dozen former manufactured gas plant remediation projects; and managing the environmental liability/facility compliance for 250 commercial petroleum service stations and facilities impacted by chemical usage involving a major oil company. Anderson has extensive experience in remediation contract management, environmental site assessments, soil, bedrock and groundwater investigations, multi-site monitoring plan implementation and site closure, as well as in asbestos and mold survey and abatement services. He is responsible for the oversight and project direction for environmental site investigations and the execution of remedial actions under programs including the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) program, Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) program and the Spill Act. Anderson also has provided expert testimony regarding environmental matters for various government and private cases. His professional affiliations include Business Networking International-Right Track Chapter (past president), New Jersey Business Networking (board member), Gotham Networking and Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee.
Seamus Kelly joined AESI in 2006, bringing with him specific expertise in health, safety and environmental project management and design. Kelly is responsible for the oversight and project direction for environmental site investigations and the execution of remedial actions under programs including the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) program, Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) program and the Spill Act. This includes performing Phase I Environmental Assessments and Preliminary Assessments for commercial, retail and educational facilities throughout New Jersey and New York. Previously Kelly served as an environmental scientist and lead asbestos surveyor with RPS Health, Safety and Environment, where he implemented asbestos surveys and supervised asbestos removal programs at commercial, industrial and residential properties throughout the UK, Europe and Japan.
Arthur Rastelli, has been a member of AESI’s leadership team since 2010 and has nearly 20 years’ experience in the field. His key responsibilities include project management oversight; performing Phase I Environmental Assessments and Preliminary Assessments for industrial, educational, retail, commercial and residential facilities; coordinating and supervising asbestos surveys/abatement and lead surveys/abatement; remediation and contractor oversight; and coordinating and supervising field activities for site investigations and remedial investigations at contaminated sites throughout New Jersey and New York. Rastelli also is responsible for preparing reports and work plans for regulatory submittal. Earlier in his career he was an environmental scientist with URS Corporation, where he was involved in an extensive range of projects for the New York City Transit Authority and Department of Design and Construction, among others. He also served as an environmental scientist for Kleinfelder and AKRF, Inc.
Pischa Wanaratna, P.E., Ph.D.
Pischa Wanaratna, Ph.D., P.E. joined AESI’s senior management team in 2018 as technical director and brings more than 12 years of diverse engineering, project management and consulting experience to her role. Dr. Wanaratna’s broad expertise includes all aspects of project management, compliance/reporting, and remedial actions and investigations. She has authored numerous research/consulting reports and articles in professional journals and conference proceedings. Previously, she served as project manager/associate program manager in the Engineering Group at TRC Environmental Corporation where she was responsible for overseeing multiple remediation jobs within a refinery site and other petrochemical sites throughout the Garden State. A professional engineer in the State of New Jersey, her industry affiliations include the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, American Chemical Society, International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, and the Chemical Heritage Foundation.
